I would like to share my personal experiences of Shimane University, both about academic and general campus life. During my master’s degree program at the graduate school of life and environmental sciences, I attended various interesting lectures taught by knowledgeable, understanding and kind professors. Furthermore, my research was supervised by Professor Ueno Makoto who played a critical role in guiding me during the research implementation process. As a result, I was able to complete my studies and graduate in two years after publishing two research papers. Because of his kindness and readiness to help, I benefitted from my supervisor in many ways other than research, such as on ways to deal with issues related to daily living in Japan.
The University also organizes Japanese language classes for international students free of charge. This enabled me engage in basic communication in Japanese especially whenever I was interacting with people and travelling within Japan.
All these factors make Shimane University to be a very conducive environment of learning for foreign students.

When I applied the scholarship of JICA for the development of core human resources in Myanmar’s agriculture, I have to choose many University in Japan. Among them, the reasons for choosing Shimane University are: when I searched the subject which I would like to study, it was present in Shimane University.
In student life, we can join Japanese Language Supplementary Classes in addition to the research. They arrange Annual International Student Party, conduct a medical check-up for International Students in Health Administration Center, traffic accident for insurance in police station and garbage trouble. They support various aspects, housing, shop for stationaries, book, personal computer, food, snack and drink and travel ticket. They held on field trips (Kyoto-Osaka-Hyogo Trip, Ohnan town and Ski tour in Mt. Daisen), home stay, Japanese culture experience for international students to know the traditional Japanese lifestyle, culture, historical and nature sceneries. I had chances to become good friendship between International students and Japanese students and got unforgettable memories from field trips. The students can apply Scholarships of Japanese Government Scholarship, Honors Scholarship, Furukawa Scholarship, Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship and etc.
If you joined the Shimane University, you can contribute the knowledge and skill that you would have learned from Shimane University in upgrading the development of your country.
